SITE DESCRIPTION
Treated Volume | 40 m³ of contaminated soil |
Thermal technology | In-Situ Treatment |
Main contaminant | Hydrocarbons |
Site challenges |
The contaminated area was divided between the cellar beneath an occupied house and the adjacent garden, requiring treatment in a highly constrained residential environment.
|
Project Timeline | 2022 |
SOLUTION
Treatment Method |
In situ thermal desorption using gas-fired Smart Burners installed directly within the contaminated zones.
|
Treatment program | A total of six natural-gas-powered Smart Burners with integrated Re-Burn technology were installed |
Contaminated Vapors Management |
Re-Burn system before discharge
|
Process control | Continuous monitoring of soil temperatures, internal pressure, combustion gases and stack emissions to ensure treatment efficiency and environmental compliance. |

RESULTS
✅ 40 m³, corresponding to 64 tonnes, of hydrocarbon- contaminated soil were treated. |
✅ Successful treatment was confirmed down to a depth of 6 metres. |
✅ Approximately 30.4 m³ of contaminated liquids and condensates were recovered during treatment. |
