Krysalis® shortlisted for the Trends Impact Awards 2026 -Haemers Technologies presents to the jury


Haemers Technologies is proud to announce that its project Krysalis® has been nominated for the Trends Impact Awards 2026, in the Technology category. We recently had the opportunity to present the project in front of the jury, made up of experts from Trends-Tendances, PwC Belgium and the Antwerp Management School.

Most of us know PFAS — the "forever chemicals" — through the water: contaminated tap water, polluted rivers, tainted groundwater. But water is where the problem surfaces, not where it lingers. The soil is what keeps it going.

At contaminated sites, most of the PFAS mass sits in the ground, trapped for decades — a reservoir that slowly leaks into the water beneath our feet. Across Europe, thousands of such sites remain untreated, and someone always pays: nearby communities, public budgets, and the next generation.

Until now, the usual answer has been to move the problem, not remove it. Krysalis® changes that. We gently warm the soil — never burning it — so the PFAS release as vapours while the ground itself stays intact. Those vapours are then captured and destroyed in the heating system, where they are fully mineralised — gone for good.

Because only the extracted PFAS are destroyed, and never the soil, the ground keeps its structure and natural functions: at the end, the soil is still living soil.

We have proven it. In Korsør, Denmark, a full-scale demonstration with Denmark's five regions and the University of Copenhagen treated 60 tonnes of heavily contaminated soil. Their analyses confirmed no detectable PFAS left in the treated soil, and none in the emissions.
